brand facts

  • The Cotswold Company was founded by Kevin Johnson in 1996, with its first shop opening in Bourton-on-the-Water in the heart of The Cotswolds.
  • As the business has continued to grow, you’ll now find its flagship store just down the road, in Stow-on-the-Wold. This special patch of rural England is a constant source of inspiration for the furniture and accessories The Cotswold Company designs and makes.
  • The brand’s ethos is focused on beautiful things, well-made and built to last, that really make a home; wherever and whatever that means to each individual customer.
  • Since making its initial sustainability pledges in 2020, the business has planted over 75,000 trees and removed over 90% of polystyrene from its packaging.
  • 2022 marked the beginning of the brand’s partnership with the charity Emmaus. Emmaus provide those experiencing homelessness with long-term housing, food and clothing, in return for meaningful employment, renovating donated furniture.

Our journey with The Cotswold Company

We acquired a majority stake in the Cotswold Company in October 2016. Through our partnership, we’ve helped the business grow with the implementation of new technologies and the introduction of new talent (including its current Chairman, CEO and CMO). We've enjoyed watching the business go from strength to strength as it opens up more showrooms across the UK.
