CEO and Co-Founder
Matt has worked in the retail, consumer and technology sectors for the last 20 years as entrepreneur, analyst, advisor and investor. Prior to founding True, Matt led both JP Morgan’s and Lehman Brothers’ retail franchises where he advised and analysed the largest and most disruptive retailers across the world including Ocado and Tesco. Simultaneously, Matt, alongside Paul, invested in and built AlexandAlexa.com, with a realised exit to Tiger Global. As CEO of True, Matt is responsible for the firm’s strategy, its key stakeholder relationships, deal origination and investment strategy, working across the three unique pillars of the business to deliver reciprocal advantage across our live network.
Co-Founder
Paul focuses on True’s investment portfolio, whilst also ensuring that True delivers against its long-term strategy.
Paul sits on the board of The Cotswold Company, Ribble Cycles, Frugi, Soulfresh and Hush.
CFO
Will began his career at Deloitte, meeting Matt and Paul in the process, and subsequently spent twelve years at GE Capital (~$600bn AUM) holding several CFO and senior finance roles including the CFO of GE Leveraged Finance a $7bn AUM business.
Will leads all the Finance, Operations and Compliance activities of True alongside working closely with each of our PE portfolio companies. Will sits on the boards of Ribble Cycles, The Cotswold Company and Soulfresh.
Director - PE
Ben leads the Private Equity team at True and is a member of the Investment Committee for True’s PE and Growth funds. He is on the board of investee companies Frugi and Hush.
Prior to True, Ben was an investor in the London team at BGF leading investments into both private and listed businesses. He has also worked within the private equity teams at Greenhill, Goldman Sachs and Octopus Ventures. He started his career at KPMG and is a qualified ACA.
Principal - PE
Before joining True, Rich worked on retail mergers and acquisitions for Citigroup, where his focus was on the execution of private equity deals in e-commerce, food and beverages.
Principal - PE
Prior to joining True, Rachel worked at Blue Coast Capital, a single family office with a broad portfolio of investments. Having started her career within public equities, Rachel has spent the past 7 years sourcing and executing a number of consumer related growth stage investments in both the UK and US.
Associate - PE
Prior to joining True, Catherine worked at Pentland Brands in both their UK and China offices. During her time there she worked on acquisitions, licensing partnerships and business development.
Associate - PE
Prior to joining True as a graduate, Oscar undertook placements at Downing LLP and Adam Street Advisers.
Analyst - PE
Qianhui, who also goes by “Q” joined True as a 2020 graduate in Economics and Management. Whilst at university, she was actively involved with the student community and often engaged in activities which aimed to promote accessibility to higher education for students from different socio-economic backgrounds.
Principal - Portfolio
Prior to True, Kishen worked in a technology start up leading the global FP&A function. He also worked at KPMG where he worked in the Transaction Services team, working closely with private equity clients, SMEs as well as large listed clients. He started his career in the Audit department at KPMG and is qualified ACA.
Principal - Finance
Prior to joining True, Vikesh began his career at PwC before joining ZEAL Network SE, a listed German Online Lottery business. Having spent three years at ZEAL in various finance roles, Vikesh joined Tungsten network where he was head of financial planning and analysis, managing a team in both London and Tungsten’s overseas offices.
Principal - Early Stage
Claire has led Early Stage investments into Bleach London, Shameless Pets and War Paint for Men. Prior to True, Claire was at Calculus Capital, where she completed a number of deals across the Consumer, Healthcare and Technology sectors. Claire is a CFA charter holder.
Associate - Early Stage
Prior to joining True, Emily worked at Synova Capital, where she completed three transactions, including an investment in video games developer, Mediatonic, and at HSBC in their leveraged finance division. During the COVID-19 lock-down, Emily helped start a social enterprise in her local neighbourhood feeding >600 vulnerable people a week.
